You're right to like it. It has an off-kilter charm. If you'd been trying to photograph it, you would have turned the camera just so to make the lines parallel and perpendicular. That would have caused you to lose part of the white negative space which, as it is, showcases the leaves against the gray. If you had been trying to make a photograph of what you'd seen beneath your feet, you'd have lost this moment of serendipitous spontaneity. What I'm trying to say is I like it.
